Vivek Razdan

Visiting Coach

Vivek, a right-arm fast-medium bowler, represented India in 2 Tests and 3 ODIs. He made his international debut during the 1989 tour of Pakistan—the tour in which great Sachin Tendulkar also made his debut. In a strange coincidence, Razdan and Tendulkar both made their ODI debuts simultaneously in Gujranwala. While Sachin is now regarded as one of the greatest of the game, Razdan's career abroad was brief.

Razdan honed his bowling under the tutelage of Mr. Gurcharan Singh at the National Stadium and mastered his technique at the MRF Pace Foundation.

Interestingly, he was picked to play for the national team in just two first-class matches. He debuted in Tests against Pakistan at Faisalabad. Though his career began slowly, Razdan played his best game career-wise in the last Test of the series. Taking advantage of favourable pitch conditions, he took an innings 5 for 79, thereby allowing India to be 74 runs ahead. That great five-wicket haul was his last in Test cricket. While he toured New Zealand with the team soon after, he had no other chance to play at the international level.
