Minutes of the meeting of the AGM – 2017-18

The joint Annual General Meeting was specially convened to welcome Club supporter and a Member of the British Parliament Honorable Virendra Sharma from London. Virendra Sharma was in Delhi for an Inter-Government seminar, and was invited as special guest for the joint AGM.

The Secretary DBCC Sandeep Joshi started the proceedings and requested President - DBCC M M Mittal to chair the AGM. Along with M M Mittal, Indian Test player and Captain Bishen Singh Bedi was invited to the dais. Patron-in-chief Yashovardhan Azad was also invited on the dais. Working President – DBCC Gurcharan Sir sat along with distinguish dais members.

Gurcharan Sir was requested to formally welcome the members present along with the distinguish guests. Sir mentioned the good season of cricket in Delhi and stressed on the changed and improved cricket system in DDCA, which has certainly helped cricket in general. NSCC Secretary Amrinder Singh was requested to read out the joint performance report of both the clubs – DBCC & NSCC. Members appreciated the fact that Delhi cricket was in right hands as 3 club players represented Delhi State in various age level tournaments.

• Ankit Negi was part of the Delhi State under-19 team and also member of the Delhi Schools Team for SGFI Tournament
• Ajay Gill was member of the Delhi State under –14 team
• Salil Malhotra was the proud member of the National Champion Delhi State under-23 team

All the members applauded and congratulated the successful players of the club. Good applause was also served for the efforts of club and Dronacharya Cricket Academy coaches. The coaches have worked hard and their efforts have brought laurels and pride for the two clubs. Amrinder Singh mentioned names of all the coaches for all the members’ appreciation.

The joint Balance Account Sheet was read out, and distributed to all the members present for the AGM. The healthy accounts of the clubs was accepted and unanimously approved by the members.

Secretary – DBCC welcomed the changed system in Delhi & District Cricket Association while informing the members present for the continuous and collective efforts of NCT’s Bishen Singh Bedi, Kirti Azad and Sameer Bahadur, which resulted in the changed scenario. Therefore, Bishen Singh Bedi was requested to address the members with his words of wisdom. Bishen Bedi appreciated the improved state of clubs in particular and Delhi cricket in general. He also praised Gurcharan Sir for his never ending enthusiasm, and soul-hearted lifelong commitment towards the great game of cricket.

Then President – DBCC M M Mittal was requested to account his aspirations on the occasion. While appreciating the good cricket season, Mr. M M Mittal mentioned and thanked the efforts of Mr. Gurcharan Singh, both the club members and coaches. To sum up the good cricket season and the AGM, Patron-in-Chief Yashovardhan Azad gave his inspirational words for the improved performance and congratulated for the changed DDCA scenario. His presence has always inspired the members, and office bearers of both the clubs.

At this time, honorable British MP Virendra Sharma joined the members present for the AGM. Bishen Bedi was requested on behalf of the two clubs to welcome Virendra Sharma with a bouquet. Cricket lover Virender Sharma was delighted to be welcomed by great cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi.

Before Virendra Sharma was requested to address the members, Secretary – NCT Sameer Bahadur was asked on popular demand to discuss their journey of change in DDCA. Sameer Bahadur detailed the members for the much required pressure asserted by Bishen Singh Bedi and Kirti Azad during the court cases for improvement in cricket system in Delhi. The better system is the fruits of their continuous hard work for the desired improvement in running the game in Delhi.

An introductory note for Virendra Sharma was read out by the Secretary – DBCC. The special guest of the evening Virendra Sharma was requested to speak to the members present. Virendra Sharma spoke in chaste Punjabi and thanked Gurcharan Sir, Bishen Singh Bedi and all the members of both the clubs in remembering and honoring him. After mentioning his love for the great game of cricket, Virendra Sharma invited Gurcharan Sir and the club team to revive and visit England. Gurcharan Sir presented Virendra Sharma memento on his visit to Delhi, and sparing his valuable time for the club’s AGM.

The good evening ended with informal get together, personal interaction and dinner with thanks to the chairman Mr. M M Mittal.
